Owner and Chief Executive Officer, Fleet Fuels LLC
Adam Gray is the Owner and CEO of Fleet Fuels LLC and has more than 25 years of experience in the petroleum and lubricants distribution industry. He founded Fleet Fuels in 2018 with a single truck in Kansas City and has since grown the company through nearly 25 acquisitions, expanding its regional footprint and service capabilities.
Prior to Fleet Fuels, Adam founded Environmental Energy, which he successfully scaled and sold to GFL in 2018. Following the transaction, he remained with GFL as Vice President of Acquisitions through 2024, supporting continued growth and integration efforts.
Adam began his career with Capital City Oil, where he worked in both operations and sales, and later held sales roles with Downs Energy. He holds a degree in Corporate Communications from Washburn University.
President, Fleet Fuels LLC
John Rettiger is a seasoned leader with over three decades of experience in the petroleum industry. As President of Fleet Fuels LLC, he guides the company’s strategic direction, operational performance, and market expansion efforts.
He began his career with Amoco Oil in 1994 and has since held key leadership roles including President of Colonial Oil, CEO of Van Manen Petroleum Group, Vice President and COO of TAC Energy, and Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Mansfield Energy.
John holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Kansas State University and an MBA from Western Michigan University.
Chief Financial Officer, Fleet Fuels LLC
James Martin is a financial leader with more than 15 years of experience in accounting, finance, and operational oversight. As Chief Financial Officer of Fleet Fuels LLC, he oversees the company’s financial strategy, reporting, controls, and long-term planning.
Before joining Fleet Fuels, James held senior finance and controller roles with Sifted and HNRY Logistics and began his career in public accounting with BKD CPAs & Advisors. His background includes supporting growth-focused organizations, managing audit and compliance functions, and building strong financial systems.
James is a Certified Public Accountant and holds degrees in Accounting and Finance from Washburn University, along with an MBA from the University of South Dakota.
Chief Operating Officer, Fleet Fuels LLC
Chris Johnson serves as Chief Operating Officer of Fleet Fuels LLC and has been with the company since 2021. In this role, he oversees day-to-day operations, safety, compliance, and systems execution across the organization.
Chris brings a strong operations background built through leadership roles in the construction and aggregates industries, where disciplined processes, safety, and performance are essential. He holds ISO 9000 and internal auditor certifications, along with MSHA and OSHA credentials, and plays a key role in maintaining operational standards and regulatory compliance across Fleet Fuels’ footprint.
In addition to his role at Fleet Fuels, Chris currently serves as Treasurer of the Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association of Kansas, reflecting his active involvement in the industry.
